GENERAL ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATIONS
1.0 GENERAL

1.1 Walk-In Coolers and Freezers shall be designed by Penn Refrigeration with prefabricated modular, precision formed, metal clad insulated panels to facilitate easy assembly and disassembly for relocation and expansion.

2.0 PRE-FABRICATED MODULAR PANELS

2.1 All panel sections, to ensure a permanent uniformity, will be precisely shaped with metal pans processed through state-of-the-art roll forming equipment and steel dies. Urethane insulation will be injected (foamed-inplace) to adhere with the inner and outer metal pans when confined within temperature-controlled fixtures or molds. Finished panels will be insulated with 100% urethane without internal wood, wood fiber, steel perimeter or substructure except for cam-locking devices, entrance doorframes, or special opening perimeters.
2.2 All panels will be 4" thick in interchangeable widths of 11 1/2", 23", 34 1/2" and 46" for quick and easy assembly. Panel edges will have formed urethane tongue or groove configurations with foamed-in-place compression gasket on interior and exterior of all male edges. This process ensures that all seams and joints of the cooler or freezer are airtight and vapor proof. Corner sections shall be 11 1/2" X 11 1/2" or 23" X 23" with a true 90 degree angle to ensure proper uniformity. Corners will be constructed with a radius on the interior pan for N.S.F. approval. Foamed-in-place "T" partition panels will be of the same construction as the adjoining panels with a 1/2" N.S.F. cove at the interior perimeter to facilitate cleaning.

3.0 PANEL LOCKING DEVICES

3.1 Steel cam-action locking devices shall be precisely positioned and firmly anchored in each panel, not to exceed 23" apart in all horizontal panels, to ensure a permanent seal. All locks will have integral rear flanges to permanently anchor their position without the use of temperature conductive strapping. Cam-locks will be placed at exact matching locations on the tongue and groove side to ensure compression of perimeter gasket in a uniform manner.
3.2 These cam-action locking devices shall consist of a cam-action rotating locking arm in the tongue edge, which will engage a steel rod receiving section in the groove edge. All locking of sections shall be performed from the interior by means of a hex wrench furnished with the cooler or freezer. The wrench holes shall be covered by 1/2" press-fit caps which will fit flush with the metal skin of the panel.

4.0 INSULATION

4.1 Insulation shall be a 4" thick rigid, foamed-in-place urethane. Urethane will be poured in place to a minimum density of 2.2 pounds per cubic foot resulting in a compression strength of 39 PSI, an initial thermal conductivity factor "K" of .115, and .128 after curing, and an overall coefficient of heat transfer (U-factor) of .0287. NO CFC'S WILL BE USED AS AN EXPANDING AGENT IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS.

5.0 FINISHES

5.1 Interior and exterior finish will be selected from the following list of metal options which can be chosen to suit location and/or application of structure. A combination of metal finishes can be selected to satisfy cosmetic and economic design requirements.
